AN ASPIRING JOURNALIST

Orlando, Fl.
Second Place Reporter of the Year Award
Welcome to my online portfolio. My name is Lindsey Brookbank, and I am a senior English professional writing and communication electronic/print journalism major at Virginia Tech. I will graduate from Tech in May 2011.
I am the managing editor for the university's student newspaper, the Collegiate Times.
During the recent Dec. 8, 2011, campus shootings, I helped lead the staff in breaking news coverage. I was also one of the main Tweeters for @CollegiateTimes, earning our feed national attention and gaining more than 20,000 followers. I also wrote online and print content, and I helped create a commemorative issue on the slain police officer and the day's events.
I have also served as an editorial intern at the Leesburg Today for two consecutive summers.
I am also the second place winner for the Associated Collegiate Press Reporter of the Year award. The three stories I submitted for the award are available on the ACP submissions page.
